EUSR Excavation Rescue

About EUSR Excavation Rescue

This safety course introduces the learner to the theoretical and practical side of rescue from open excavations. The course has been designed to cover current legislation and guidance including the HSE’s L101 and the use of davit arm systems along with stretchers and harnesses.

Learners will become familiarised with the component parts, assembly and use of davit arm systems on trench boxes and sheet piles.

The half day course can accommodate up to 8 delegates per day.

Course Objectives

  • Identify current legislation and guidance in relation to working in confined spaces
  • Duties of rescue
  • Recognise potential weather hazards
  • Be able to safely install, use and remove davit arm systems
  • Practically utilise stretchers and harnesses as part of an excavation rescue

Who will benefit

Managers, supervisors, and/or operatives who are required to oversee and/or carry out work in or around excavations. Where a design specifies the use of an excavation rescue system such as a davit arm you are required to hold a formal training qualification to show you are trained and competent to assemble and use the equipment.

Pre-requisites

Candidates joining this accredited course MUST hold a current (in-date) and valid EUSR Category 5 Install, Inspect and Remove proprietary shoring systems qualification or a EUSR Cat 3+4+5 or a EUSR Cat 4+5 qualification. If unsure or if you have questions please reach out to the Groundforce training team on 0800 0232663.

Important Notes

In addition to holding the relevant qualification(s) as described in the Pre-requisites section, candidates should have practical on-site experience of installing and removing trench boxes. In order to keep the course duration to 5 hours or less, this element will form part of the training course, logistically enabling Groundforce Training to install a trench box prior to fitting the davit arm system as well as removing it after the practical Excavation Rescue assessments have been completed.

Due to the team work involved in the practical sessions contained with the EUSR accredited Excavation Rescue courses, this specialist course must have a minimum of 4 candidates (maximum is 8) to successfully run safely. If you have questions please reach out to the Groundforce training team on 0800 0232663.
