NPORS N009 Rough Terrain Forklift Truck Course

• Understand the roles / responsibilities, and duties of a plant operator within the construction industry
• Name the basic construction, terminology and controls and the purpose of the main components
• Be aware of current legislation and codes of practice relating the manufacturer’s requirements and be able to interpret the operator’s handbook and relevant documentation
• Display the ability to safely traverse in confined spaces
• Perform pre-use checks and configure the machine ready for travel
• Display the ability to use the machine to safely traverse over rough and undulating ground as well as sizable inclines and level surfaces, both laden and unladen
• Handle loads in a variety of situations, including lifting to the full height limit of the forklift
• Prepare the forklift to lift and transfer loads
• Accurately lift, position and remove loads to and from given locations
• Be aware of the hazards of overhead and buried services and explain any required actions
• Maintain a tidy and safe working environment
• Demonstrate and safely carry out both shut down and securing procedures

• 5 day combination of classroom based teaching and practical activity
• Candidates will demonstrate their skills, knowledge and understanding through a series of practical and theory tests assigned by the tester.

CITB Health, Safety and Environment test completed and passed within the last two years before the course start date or NPORS test date.

A good level of written and spoken English is paramount to successfully complete this course. If you have any concerns regarding this please contact our office and we can discuss available options (for example, hiring a translator at an additional cost).

Upon successful completion of both the theory & practical tests the NPORS Operator Card is awarded, valid for three years.
