NPORS N107 Lorry Loader Course

This training course is for operators who require or have a desire to take the relevant test in order to gain a NPORS operator card for Lorry Loaders.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the roles / responsibilities, and duties of a plant operator within the construction industry
  • Name the basic construction, terminology and controls and the purpose of the main components
  • Be aware of current legislation and codes of practice relating the manufacturer’s requirements and the operator’s handbook
  • Display the ability to safely traverse over undulating or level terrain and in confined spaces
  • Perform pre-use checks with regard to the loader crane and the host vehicle and configure both ready for travel and lifting
  • Drive the vehicle to a designated work area
  • Interpret user manuals and all relevant documentation
  • Comply with / set-up / program Load Moment Indicators or Rated Capacity Indicators for lifting operations
  • Define the correct position and configuration in which to place loads to and from the vehicle, e.g. weight identification, centre of gravity; including slinging of balanced and unbalanced loads / slinging sizes and angles, the control of swinging loads and the specified use of stabilisers and boom extensions
  • Understand different types of accessories used with loader cranes
  • Operate the machine at its maximum radius and slewing limits
  • Be aware of the hazards of overhead and buried services
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Demonstrate and safely carry out both shut down and securing procedures

Teaching and Assessment

  • 2 day combination of classroom based teaching and practical activity
  • Candidates will demonstrate their skills, knowledge and understanding through a series of practical and theory tests assigned by the tester.

Entry Requirements

CITB Health, Safety and Environment test completed and passed within the last two years before the course start date or NPORS test date.

A good level of written and spoken English is paramount to successfully complete this course. If you have any concerns regarding this please contact our office and we can discuss available options (for example, hiring a translator at an additional cost).

Certification

Upon successful completion of both the theory & practical tests the NPORS Operator Card is awarded, valid for three years.
