The 110V, 32A Electric Shoring Pump (for use with hydraulic oil) is designed specifically for the installation of Groundforce’s hydraulic props and braces. It is ideal for environments where conventional combustion engine pumps are not permitted or where traditional power sources are unavailable.

This pump is particularly suitable for larger, double-acting equipment such as expanding and retracting hydraulic struts that require the movement of large volumes of hydraulic fluid. It is also effective for installing multiple braces, thanks to its quick-release hose connections, which streamline the setup process.

The unit features a motor rated at IP54, meaning it is showerproof but must not be submerged or subjected to power washing. It requires a minimum power supply of 7kVA (32A) and can be powered using Groundforce’s Instagrid Power Pack, a standard 110V mains supply, or a conventional generator, which can be sourced from Brandon Hire Station by calling 0345 604 5337.

For environmentally sensitive operations, pairing the pump with the Instagrid Power Unit supports sustainability goals. Additional information and the user guide can be found in the Groundforce Technical Library.

FAQs

What is an Electric Motorised Shoring Pump?

110V Electric Shoring Pumps are intended for use with larger double acting (expanding and retracting) equipment such as hydraulic struts where large fluid volumes are involved.

Why use an Electric Motorised Shoring Pump?

Electric Shoring Pumps are intended for use on sites where conventional combustion engine pumps are not permitted due to risk of spark / fire hazard etc. (such as in oil refineries)

What powers Electric Motorised Shoring Pumps?

They are powered by a 110V, 32A Electric motor which drives the shoring fluid pump. Note: This unit requires a minimum power supply of 7kVA (32A) generator which can be obtained from Brandon Hire Station (0345 604 5337)

What is the fluid that causes the hydraulic ram to expand an retract?

Electric Shoring Pumps use a shoring fluid called ‘Houghto Safe SF 25 B’ which is supplied in 5 litre containers.

What other fluids are used?

As well as shoring fluid, the pump should be filled with oil - SAE 80 W90.

How is the hydraulic connection made from the Electric Shoring Pump to the struts / braces?

Two hydraulic hoses are connected from the electric pump to the hydraulic ram connection on the strut or brace (one to expand, one to retract). The connection is made using quick release hose connections.

Are there any common issues with Electric Motorised Shoring Pumps?

It is important to note that the pump will not run if levels of shoring fluid are too low. See user guide for further details.

Is there a video available that demonstrates Electric Motorised Shoring Pumps?

A 3D animation showing ‘typical’ use of a Motorised Shoring Pump is available to watch now on our YouTube channel.

Do Groundforce offer training courses?

Groundforce Training Services offer industry leading accredited safety training primarily for those working in utilities, construction and civil engineering. From short duration health and safety awareness to more complex or specialist safety consultancy solutions.

Is a user guide available for Electric Motorised Shoring Pumps?

Yes, a user guide will be provided with every hire and can be requested from Groundforce or can be downloaded from the Groundforce Shorco section of the Groundforce website. A user guide for Electric Motorised Shoring Pumps is also available below to download as a PDF .
