FAQs

What is a Double Slide Rail?

The Double Slide Rail is a modular trench shoring system featuring a double guide rail for installing trench shoring plates.

What are the component parts of a Double Slide Rail?

The Double Slide Rail system comprises Shoring Panels and Slide Rails. Depending on requirements, the system uses either Mini, Standard or Mega Rolling Struts.

When would using a Double Slide Rail be an advantage over other shoring systems?

The Double Slide Rail enables you to use different sized Rolling Struts and is used for deeper excavations and long pipe runs. By using a soil support, even greater strut height clearances can be achieved.

Are there any other possible configurations?

Yes, by using a Clamping Device, the system can be configured into a strut free closed box for shafts, pits and other applications that may require a 4-sided solution.

By using Corner Rail Posts, in combination with Rolling Strut assemblies, a large variety of trench dimensions and configurations can be achieved, making this one of the most flexible shoring systems on the market.

Are there any particular environments where the system would be beneficial?

The system is particularly useful in environments where there is a risk of settling.

What makes the Double Slide Rail system so versatile?

Maximum flexibility is achieved as the design allows for offset heights along the trench run. i.e. the Rolling Struts can be arranged so the pipes can be ‘pitched in’ along the length of the trench.

What is the maximum shoring depth?

The maximum shoring depth is up to 7.6m

The pipe height (under strut) clearance is 5.10m

What trench widths can be achieved using the Double Slide Rail System?

Depending on configuration, for Mini and Standard Rollers, trench widths can range from 2.64m – 7.64m. For Mega Rollers, it’s from 2.65 – 7.64.

What working (internal) widths can be achieved using the Double Slide Rail System?

Depending on configuration, Mini and Standard Rollers working widths are from 1.24m – 6.24m

For Mega Rollers, it’s from 1.84m – 6.84m.

Does the system come with any accessories?

Protection Rails: These are used to protect the top of the shoring panels during installation and ensure a long service life

· Clamping Device: This is used when configuring ‘strut free’ excavations

· Distance Pieces: Used as an assembly aid to align the base panels so they are kept parallel during assembly

How easy is the assembly / installation process?

Because the Double Slide Rail system is modular, the assembly process is a simple and accurate process due to the twin slide guides.

Installation is also made easier as the Rolling Strut assembly is firstly located in the lower section of the slide rail, giving the excavator operator an unobstructed view.

How easy is the Removal process?

Due to the second guide there is no need to remove the entire shoring height at once; just the shoring panels from one guide at a time.

What size excavator is required for installation / removal?

Depending on the configuration / application, you will need a 24 – 30t + machine.

Do Groundforce supply any other Slide Rail Systems?

Depending on the application, Groundforce also supply Rolling Strut Single Slide Rail and Pile Chamber options: contact Groundforce for more details.

Is a user guide available for the Double Slide Rail System?

Yes, a user guide is available on request or can be downloaded from the Groundforce Technical Library.
