Groundforce makes key technical appointment in the north

Robert Powell has joined the company as a Sales Engineer to support the Groundforce Shorco Northern Sales Team in providing value engineered temporary works design solutions. Robert, also a qualified bricklayer, joined Groundforce initially as a Graduate Engineer designing temporary works shoring schemes. Following 5 years’ experience in the Groundforce Design Office, he was promoted to Senior Engineer within the core shoring team. His responsibilities include designing and checking multiple shoring schemes from trench and manhole boxes up to large multi-propped cofferdams and everything in between.

On his technical role within the shoring team Robert comments; “Over the years the attitude to temporary works has changed dramatically and there has been an increasing demand from our clients for an engineer to accompany our sales team on visits to offer more technical advice.  In the past this has been difficult as it means releasing an engineer from design duties. The role of Sales Engineer in the Northern Region was created to allow an engineer to be available when required for office and site meetings, to provide support to the sales team and offer advice for shoring solutions to our clients.”

This new role is part of Groundforce’s ongoing strategy to provide first class customer support. A local dedicated engineering facility will help bring engineering closer to the customer in the form of local knowledge, site visits and bespoke designs from simple trench boxes to more complex excavations. The Sales Engineer role will also include delivering technical presentations to our clients on a range of topics surrounding shoring design which can be used as CPD for engineers working towards gaining professional qualifications.
