The principle of driving with a vibrator is the reduction of friction between the pile and the ground. The vibrator causes the pile to vibrate which reduces the friction between the pile and the ground and between the individual soil particles adjacent to the pile. This reduces resistance and the pile penetrates under its own weight and the weight of the vibrator. Vibrators are ideal for extracting plies using a suitable crane pull due to the considerable reduction in surface friction.
Our FSV and EMV Selection Guides will help you understand the range of hammers in our fleet, their pile driving capacity and soil types you need to consider before hiring a hammer.
Excavator Mounted Vibrators (EMVs) are specifically designed as a sheet piling attachment for excavators. They have a high power to weight ratio due to the high operating frequency and can apply an additional vertical force from the excavator to assist driving if required.
These robust machines are particularly effective when driving long, heavy section piles or large diameter tubes. The Standard Frequency Vibrators are especially effective in cohesive soil conditions.
A High frequency Vibrator allows efficient and quick pile driving and operates between 2000 and 3500 rpm; a resonance which is higher than the naturally occurring frequencies of major soil types and so reduces the risk of harmful vibrations.
Resonance Free vibrators are the most advanced form of vibrator due to a mechanism which enables complete control over the output vibration.
Piletec Double-Acting Hydraulic Impact Hammers are a range of piling hammers designed to drive a variety of pile types and sizes.
